And so it begins..

I’m in the beginning, right now, of my journey to get back to me! As I started really committing to focusing on eating better and working out again, I realized that maybe I had some things to share and that maybe other people could relate with the place I’m at in my life. But to relate to me, I should probably tell you a bit about me. So here goes nothin…

First and foremost, I’m a mom. A I-live-in-yoga-pants-my-house-is-never-as-clean-as-I-would-like-my-kids-have-too-many-toys-I-love-wine-after-they-go-to-bed kinda mom (I should mention wine is off the list of consumables for now. My goals are too big to include those calories right now.) But I have two awesome kids! They really are sweet, smart, polite, generous, loving little people and I made them! I’m pretty lucky! That being said, being a mom is not an easy job, so cooking with wine helps. Sometimes I even put it in the food! (I know- too much. Haha!) So, once I became a mom I poured my heart and soul into being the best mom I could be. I’ll admit, I’ve been referred to as a ‘Martha Stewart’ mom. I love cooking, I love to do crafts, I sew our Halloween costumes  (until my son got old enough to have his own opinion and decided to be a ninja for the past 3 years 😒), I make cake pops for birthday parties. I love it all. Livin’ the ‘mom life’ dream. Buuut, I forgot about one other little dream I had. Well, not really a ‘little’ dream at all. I always wanted to be a fit and healthy mom and wife. Always wanted to set that example for my kids, but somewhere along the way I just let that one go and poured myself into making them happy. I’ve decided it’s time to make a change. Now, let’s be clear, and I’m sure many people can relate to this one, I have decided it’s time to make a change about 50 times, but at some point it just becomes ‘the one’. The time you’ve tried, fallen, and picked yourself up enough times. The time you just ‘know’ it’s different. I’m so stoked and ready for my journey ‘back to me’ this time! That’s why I decided to share my journey. Maybe inspire a couple people to make it “their time” too. Or maybe just connect with some people who like to cook and would like some ideas. I can’t promise all my posts will be about food. Actually, I can guarantee I’m gonna have to post some crafty stuff! I actually have a random hobby that connects the two, food and crafts, but that’s a blog for another day.
It should be noted, that not only am I a mom, but I’m a wife too, to an awesome husband and father. He does love to eat healthy too, but he doesn’t always need to be as as strict as I am being on my journey right now. And my kids don’t need be as strict as me either. (I’m talking- I weigh my portions and keep track of my carbs/proteins/fats and all that jazz) So, many of my meals have two dishes in one, or healthy variations for me, but not as healthy versions for the rest of the fam. I do like to buy organic, grass fed, free range foods for us all, often. Not always, by any means, but definitely more often than not, when available. So, if you’re reading this thinking “I’ll pass on following this one. I’m not interested in health foods.” Then you will miss out on my killer, home made, from scratch, enchilada sauce and enchiladas, or my pulled pork sliders with homemade spicy BBQ sauce and I could go on and on. I will be sharing what I cook. I believe in the 80/20 rule. Keep it clean and healthy 80% of the time, but don’t forget to enjoy life. Food is good. Sometimes you have to splurge a little. That sorta leads me to the last thing I should share.
In order for me to stay on track with my 80/20 rule, I drink protein shakes! I love them!! Say what you will, but that’s how I roll. They are packed with superfood nutrition that keeps me feeling satisfied and strong and full of energy. I know when people think protein shakes they think “I could never do those. I love food too much.” I LOVE food! I love cooking! Aaaand I drink protein shakes. Every day! I also love nutritional cellular cleansing and intermittent fasting. Keeps me feeling sharp and full of energy too! This is just something I feel passionate about. It’s all part of MY 80/20.
So, there’s a bit of me. I’ll be posting about my journey to get healthy again, lots of food stuff, Maybe do some inspiring stuff, probably some crafty stuff, some mom power stuff and who knows what else, but always made and shared with love! I’d love to share with you!

    1. I’ve added a place at the bottom of the page where you can enter your email address. That should give you notifications when I post. I think… I’m still trying to figure everything out! Sorry!
